OUR REASERCH FIELD:

defining the use of biomarkers of inflammation and sepsis in ACS&T.

WSES Biomarkers in Acute Care Surgery & Trauma Initiative (WSES-BACS&TI) is an informal and spontaneous group of the WSES that was formed with the common interest of increasing knowledge on the use of biomarkers in the ACS&T context.

Biomarkers of inflammation and sepsis appear to be particularly useful in the diagnosis, grading and modulation of the therapy of pathologies in the ACS&T area.

WSES-BACS&TI aims to stimulate and produce evidence related to the above topic.
In particular, from a methodological point of view, the group wants and is able to produce:
1) Surveys (among clinicians) on the current use of biomarkers
2) Prospective Studies with high numbers
3) RCTs
4) Position papers and Guidelines.

WSES-BACS&TI intends to cooperate and build transversal research projects with any other scientific society that has a common (even partial) interest in the field of biomarkers.
